i’m starting to think i post too much video, not enough audio. Video just narrows it down a bit. Otherwise there would be just too much shit to post sometimes. Meh i dont know. Either way, here is this new J Love joint.
Awesome line up on this posse track from Chicago based Ralph Dog. Itunes it here
Optamus of Syllabolix posted this on ozhiphop.com and i thought that i would share it here. Very heartfelt words
I don’t really know where to start the last week has been the hardest week of my life to see the least.
Hunter was not only my good mate but a fellow SBX member, a drinking buddy , a roommate and a mc who would be cyphering in the car park more often then be waiting for props in the beer garden. I’m proudly the godfather of his son Marley and introduced his mother Laura to Hunter back in the day.
We met at MC Battles in the late 90′s and new of each other only from rocking the mike. Later we formed Syllabolix at the Hyde Park Hotel and shared our dreams of creating a scene and watching Oz hiphop explode, we never doubted it would. He was passionate, stubborn, reckless, thoughtful, tough and had a side to him that was quite endearing to anyone that met him.
We lived in a ghetto flat in Maylands which was rough and tumble and perfect HQ for the Sylla-Squad. We would roll to any night remotely hiphop and parties in massive numbers of mcees and writers, effectively turning any party into our own gig. We lived on the dole, ate fish and chips, drunk a lot of goon and Emu Bitter blocks, got laid and made songs all night long. Hunter owned the flat through an inheritance so we couldn’t be evicted, even with numerous noise complaints we lived in our own hiphop heaven. This is the place we wrote Jam Roll’ which I still think is a definitive Hunter track.
When Hunter found out about the cancer he called me about being godfather and said “before I say what I’m gonna say I want to apologize for putting you in this position but I know you were the right choice”. I felt heartbroken knowing what was coming next, he asked me to look after Marley, to make sure he never forgot who his dad was and remind him to always treat his mum (Laura) with love and respect.
I remember when he became really sick and was taken to hospital. I had tears rolling down my cheeks and tried to hug him on the bed, he patted me on the back, consoling me, and said “Opt your being a big girls blouse”. I laughed but I could see he knew the clock was now ticking because as soon as I sat down he was talking shop : I’m gonna do this album and this track and … he stayed like that till the day he passed. Always driven, always loving Oz hiphop and was so passionate about SBX.
The day before he left the earth, he made me make up a beat and bring it to him. Using a support stirrup he lifted himself into a sitting position and said (nodding his head)“dope”, “dope brother, that’s exactly how I wanted it”.
He never gave up the idea that he might have one more day to write just one more hiphop song. Inspiring!
FAREWELL BROTHER!! SBX WILL NEVER LET YOU BE FORGOTTEN!
The Mclaren recorded a time of 7:28 with Sport Auto executive editor Horst von Saurma at the wheel, which makes it faster around the ring than the Ferrari 458 by a good 5 seconds, but slower than the Porsche GT2 RS. This is not an official manufacturer run, it was conducted independently by a german magazine. Still – it’s pretty cool
Iron Solomon has a go at Jigga’s classic 22 2′s joint. This is from the “redrum” mixtape he plans to drop around Halloween this year. I dont know when halloween is. Soon?
New video from the soon to be released Violence Begets Violence album from JMT.
R.I.P Hunter – This is a track Hunter wrote and dedicated to his son Marley and will be released in 2012. Produced by Optamus who teamed up with Hunter for such classics as ‘Jam Roll’,'Wake Up’ and many more. ENJOY!
Some leaks here from Ciecmate’s soon to be released production joint, “Chess Sounds”.
For every Ciecmate beat that’s made it out into the world, there have been scores of others laying in wait, lurking, watching for the right MC. With Chess Sounds Vol.1, Ciecmate has brought his cunning creations out into the light, pairing them with the craftiest slew of MCs you could hope to assemble.
Named after his recently opened production house and re-cording studio, Chess Sounds features local artists such as the legend Brad Strut, label-mate and fellow Broken Tooth visionary Newsense, Koolism’s Hau, host of the Triple J Hip Hop Show, Westline Boomtown murkers Kings Konekted, the irrepressible Trials of the Funkoars, and that dashing man with the razor tongue, Vents. Also bringing characteristic heat are local MCs Diem, Tornts, Maggot Mouf & Gutz. Joining this impressive line up is boom-bap hero Tame One (Artifacts/Weathermen), heavy-hitting underground mixtape maestro Termanology and one of the last remaining artists to do the New York sound justice, Little Vic.
Newsense: Cause & Effect
Brad Strut: I Need Change

Nothing but Hunter – all day.
Hunter from the Perth based Syllabolix crew has today finally found peace. He fought a long hard battle against cancer, and his pain is now at an end. Hunter was an absolute legend, and i’m glad to say that I could call him friend. As little as 2 weeks ago, he was on stage rocking a show – he fought until the end, and i dont think many people could lay claim to the sort of strength that he possessed. Please spare a thought for his friends and family on this day, and lets remember him fondly.
Rest in Peace.
Lead single from the soon to be released collab effort from Bronson and Statik Selektah. Dope.
